Merge & Split PDF
Drop one PDF to split or tidy, or several to merge, and every page appears as a thumbnail. Drag the pages into order, across files too, turn the ones scanned sideways and remove what you do not need, then save one merged PDF or several. The pages are copied, not drawn again, so text stays text and images keep their quality.
What it does
- Merges any number of files, in any page order: page 3 of one can sit between pages 1 and 2 of another.
- Rotates and deletes pages, reverses the whole stack, or starts over.
- Splits by ranges written as a print dialog takes them (1-3, 4-10, 12-), every so many pages, or one PDF a page.
- Several files come as a zip, numbered so they sort in order.
- Pages copied rather than redrawn: text, images and links survive, and a document’s shared fonts are written once.
- A PDF that only restricts editing opens as it is; one locked with a password asks for it and saves unlocked.
- Thumbnails drawn as they scroll into view, so a long document opens quickly.
- Puts a two-sided scan made one side at a time back in page order, and takes out its blank backs.
How to use it
- Drop one or more PDFs on the window.
- Drag the pages into order; turn or remove any.
- Choose one merged PDF, or how to split.
- Save the file, or the zip.
What it does not do
- Compressing a PDF: that needs Ghostscript, a native program that cannot run in a browser.
- PDF to Word and back: that needs LibreOffice, for the same reason.
- Bookmarks and form fields: the pages are copied, not the document’s outline or its forms, so a merged form loses its fields.
- Page numbers, watermarks and added blank pages: this tool moves and cuts pages, it does not write new ones.
Questions
Is there a size or page limit?
Each PDF can be up to 150 MB, with any number of pages. The file is opened in your browser’s memory, which is what sets that limit, not a plan.
Does it open a password-protected PDF?
One that only restricts printing or editing opens as it is. One that needs a password to open asks for it, and what you save has no password.
Will the quality change?
No. Pages are copied as they are, not drawn again: images keep their bytes, and text stays selectable and searchable.
Where do my files go?
Nowhere. Contracts, payslips and ID scans are what people merge, which is why the files are opened, shown and written by your own browser.
Everything here runs in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or open is uploaded, and there is no account and no queue. How that works.
For one job
- Split PDF: Cut one PDF into several files by page ranges, every so many pages or one page each.
- Delete PDF Pages: Pages taken out of a PDF, the rest saved as they were.
Often used with
- Compare PDF: two versions of a document, every change marked on its pages
- PDF Page Numbers: the merged file numbered from its first page to its last
- Unlock & Protect PDF: a password put on the merged file, with the printing and copying you allow
More in PDF Tools
- JPG to PDF & PDF to JPG: Turn JPG, PNG and other pictures into a PDF, or the pages of a PDF into JPG or PNG pictures, in your browser, with nothing uploaded.
- Watermark PDF: Put a text or a logo across the pages of a PDF: centred, at an edge or repeated, at any angle and opacity, each copy read back by a second reader.
