About

QR Code Generator

Type a web address and the code is there: nothing to sign up for, and nothing that stops working later. The code holds your content itself, not a short link through somebody’s server, so it cannot expire, be switched off behind a paywall, or count who scans it.

What it does

  • Links, text, and what phone cameras act on: Wi-Fi, a contact card, an email, a text message, a call, WhatsApp, a place, an event.
  • A Wi-Fi code that joins the network, with the password’s awkward characters escaped properly.
  • Square, rounded or dotted modules; any two colours or a see-through background; the width of the quiet margin.
  • A logo in the middle, with error correction raised to its highest level and the modules under it cleared, so it still scans.
  • Error correction L, M, Q or H, each with what it recovers.
  • Advice as you go when a code would be hard to read, and the smallest width to print it at.
  • A PNG up to 4096 pixels with every module on a whole pixel, an SVG that stays sharp at any size, or a copy.

How to use it

  1. Choose what the code holds.
  2. Type the content; the code redraws as you go.
  3. Set the shape, the colours, the margin and a logo.
  4. Download the PNG or the SVG, or copy the image.

What it does not do

  • Dynamic codes, scan counts and editable links: they need a server between the code and its target, which is what makes the free ones stop working when a trial ends.
  • Scanning a code: that is a camera’s job, and a different tool.
  • EPS or PDF export, and “Scan me” frames: the SVG scales to any size and goes into any design program.

Questions

Will this code expire?

No. The content is inside the code and there is no link through this site, so it works for as long as the address or the network it holds does.

Why does it warn about a light code on a dark background?

Scanners expect dark modules on a light background. Many read an inverted code, some do not, and a print cannot be changed.

How small can I print it?

The advice line names the smallest width for the number of modules the code has: more content means more modules, which need more room to be told apart.

Does a Wi-Fi code work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Both read the standard WIFI: format and offer to join, and the password’s special characters are escaped the way the format requires.

Everything here runs in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or open is uploaded, and there is no account and no queue. How that works.

For one job

  • Wi-Fi QR Code: A QR code that joins your Wi-Fi network, for guests to scan.
  • vCard QR Code: A QR code that saves your contact details to a phone.
