About

Social Media Image Sizes

Drop one picture, or paste it, and take away every size the networks ask for: 36 sizes in ten groups, from the Hootsuite and Buffer guides where the two agree, or from the network’s own help. Choose what stays in frame once and every size keeps it, and where a network covers part of the picture with its own buttons, the part always shown is marked.

What it does

  • The Instagram square, 3:4 portrait and 9:16 story; Facebook posts and covers; the X header; LinkedIn covers and link previews.
  • The YouTube thumbnail and channel banner, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, the 1200 x 630 link preview, and App Store and Google Play screenshots.
  • Sizes ticked one at a time, or a whole network at once.
  • The picture dragged inside the frame to choose its focus, which every size keeps.
  • Safe areas marked for stories, the YouTube banner, the X header, the LinkedIn cover and TikTok.
  • Fill the size, fit the whole picture on a colour, or fit it over a blurred copy of itself.
  • JPEG, PNG or WebP at the quality you choose; one file, or all of them in a zip named by network and pixels.
  • Sizes larger than the picture pointed out before you save, with how far each would be enlarged.

How to use it

  1. Drop or paste the picture.
  2. Tick the sizes, or a network.
  3. Drag the picture inside the frame so the part that matters is in it.
  4. Pick fill or fit and the format, then download one size or the zip.

What it does not do

  • Templates and text over the picture: that is a design tool’s job.
  • Posting to the networks: that needs accounts, tokens and a server.
  • Face detection to choose the frame for you: that needs a model, and this site loads no WebAssembly.
  • Video sizes, and a size typed in by hand: the Image Compressor resizes to any size.

Questions

Why 36 sizes and not every one in the guides?

A size only one guide publishes is a size that is wrong for somebody. Where Hootsuite and Buffer disagree, as on Pinterest’s profile picture or Facebook’s portrait post, the size is left out rather than guessed. Where a network’s own help is newer than both, as YouTube’s 3840 × 2160 thumbnail is, the network wins.

Why is my square not the same crop as my story?

A square and a 9:16 cannot hold the same edges. The focus you set is kept in both; the rest is cut differently for each shape.

What is the safe area?

The part of the picture a network never covers with its own name, buttons or profile picture. Keep faces and text inside it.

Will a small picture be enlarged?

Only if you save a size bigger than it. Those sizes are named before you save, with how far each would be blown up.

Everything here runs in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or open is uploaded, and there is no account and no queue. How that works.
