Age Calculator

Enter a date of birth and the age appears in years, months and days, counted the usual way: whole years to the last birthday, then the months, then the days. Change Age on to see how old someone was, or will be, on any other date. These are calendar dates, so the answer never shifts with your time zone.

What it does

  • The age in years, months and days, with a button that copies it as a line of text.
  • The same span in months, in weeks and days, and in days, hours and minutes.
  • The weekday you were born on, and your next birthday: its date, the days until it, and the age you turn.
  • The next round thousand days you will have lived, and the date it falls on.
  • Born on 29 February: choose 1 March (England, Hong Kong) or 28 February (New Zealand, much of Europe) in other years.
  • Age on starts at today and takes any date, past or future.

How to use it

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Leave Age on at today, or set the day you want the age on.
  3. Read the age and the rows below it, and copy it if you need it.

What it does not do

  • An age to the hour: a date of birth carries no time of day, so hours and minutes are whole days multiplied out.
  • Counting from 1 at birth, as traditional East Asian age does: here a newborn is 0, and the age goes up on each birthday.

Questions

When is the birthday of someone born on 29 February?

On the day itself in a leap year. In other years it depends on the country: 1 March in England and Hong Kong, 28 February in New Zealand and much of Europe. The tool asks which, and the age and the next birthday follow your answer.

How many days old am I?

The In days row says, counting the day of birth as day 0 and stopping at the Age on date. The Day number row adds the next round thousand you will reach, and when.

Can it tell how old someone was on a past date?

Yes. Set Age on to that date: the age, the totals and the next birthday are all worked out for that day instead of today.

Everything here runs in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or open is uploaded, and there is no account and no queue. How that works.
